description MSI Claw 8 AI+ Overview
With integrated game controls and an 8-inch touchscreen, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ brings Windows PC gaming into a handheld format. Its Intel Core Ultra Series 2 platform distinguishes it from the original Claw, while the screen uses a 1920 x 1200 resolution rather than standard 1080p. Variable refresh support helps match the display's timing to changing game performance. MSI Center M provides a handheld control interface, and MSI's software includes automatic adjustments through its AI Engine.
The AI branding should not be taken as proof that every game receives a performance benefit. It suits players who want Windows software access and built-in controller ergonomics in a portable device. Comfort depends on hand size, while battery endurance and heat depend on game settings and workload; a universal comparison with AMD alternatives is not justified.
help MSI Claw 8 AI+ FAQ
Which processor is inside the MSI Claw 8 AI+?
The prominent Claw 8 AI+ configuration uses Intel's Core Ultra 7 258V processor with integrated Arc graphics. It is a newer Lunar Lake design and should not be confused with the first-generation MSI Claw's earlier Core Ultra chips.
Does the MSI Claw 8 AI+ screen support variable refresh rate?
Yes. Its 8-inch 1920 by 1200 display supports up to 120 Hz and variable refresh rate, which can make fluctuating game frame rates look smoother.
How large is the battery in the MSI Claw 8 AI+?
The handheld includes an 80 Wh battery, substantially larger than the 40 Wh batteries used in some early Windows handhelds. Runtime still changes dramatically with game settings, display brightness, and the selected power profile.
Can the MSI Claw 8 AI+ run Steam, Xbox Game Pass, and Epic games?
Yes. It runs Windows 11, so it can install Steam, the Xbox app, Epic Games Store, and conventional Windows software rather than being limited to one storefront.
