description Mohamed Morsi Overview
Mohamed Morsi was an Egyptian engineer, academic, and politician who served as president of Egypt from 30 June 2012 until 3 July 2013. He was affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood and represented its Freedom and Justice Party after winning the 2012 presidential election. The armed forces removed him from office after mass protests in June 2013, and he died on 17 June 2019 after collapsing during a court hearing in Cairo while in custody.
