Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider famously featured elegant bodywork designed by the renowned Italian design house Pininfarina. The design was an evolution of the earlier Giulietta Spider, maintaining its classic open-top silhouette. This Pininfarina styling makes it a highly sought-after collector's item today.

When the Giulia Spider was introduced in 1962, it adopted a larger 1.6-litre (1600cc) twin-cam engine. This upgraded power plant provided more displacement and power compared to the 1.3-litre engine found in the Giulietta. It made the Giulia a significantly faster sports car for its era.

The Giulia Spider is essentially a direct evolution of the Giulietta Spider, which was introduced in 1955. Alfa Romeo updated the car in 1962 with a larger engine, upgrading the Giulietta to the Giulia series. Visually, they are very similar but distinguished by badging and slight trim changes.

The classic Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider was produced primarily between 1962 and 1965, overlapping briefly with the later 1750 Spider Veloce. It served as Alfa Romeo's premier lightweight convertible during the early 1960s. The design lineage eventually evolved into the iconic Duetto Spider.
