Mad Max: Fury Road (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The soundtrack was composed by Tom Holkenborg, who is better known by his stage name Junkie XL. He utilized a massive 100-piece orchestra alongside heavy electronic elements to create the film's intense, driving score.

The diegetic music is performed by the "Doof Warrior," a blind guitarist who rides the "Doof Wagon." He plays a real, flame-throwing guitar driven by massive amplifiers mounted on a moving vehicle.

While it was nominated for and won numerous film music critic awards, it did not win the Academy Award for Best Original Score. It lost the Oscar to Ennio Morricone's score for *The Hateful Eight*.

Alongside the traditional orchestra, Holkenborg heavily relied on distorted electric cellos and massive, pounding taiko drums. These specific instruments were used to match the chaotic, mechanical sounds of the film's post-apocalyptic vehicles.
