Weber and Fields

description Weber and Fields Overview

Weber and Fields were an American comedy duo consisting of Joe Weber and Lew Fields, who achieved significant popularity in vaudeville and Broadway during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their act, known as a "Dutch" routine, featured the duo portraying German immigrants speaking in heavy dialects. The short Weber typically played the authoritative boss, while the tall Fields acted as the submissive straight man. In 1896, they opened the Weber and Fields Music Hall in New York, where they produced successful burlesque parodies of contemporary plays.
