Nathan Oliveira (1928–2010) was an American painter, printmaker, and sculptor who emerged as part of the Bay Area Figurative Movement in 1950s Northern California. He is best known for paintings of solitary human figures isolated against dark, gestural grounds, in series including the "Standing Man" works of the late 1950s and subsequent "Site" and "Wind" paintings. Oliveira taught for more than three decades at Stanford University. His influences ranged from Edvard Munch to the European expressionist tradition, and he worked extensively in oil painting, monotype printmaking, and lithography.
