The Man in the Iron Mask is a 1998 historical adventure film written and directed by Randall Wallace and loosely based on the final part of Alexandre Dumas's The Vicomte de Bragelonne. Leonardo DiCaprio plays both the French king Louis XIV and Philippe, his imprisoned twin brother, while the aging Musketeers plan to replace the ruler with the hidden heir. The cast also includes Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Gerard Depardieu, and Gabriel Byrne.
