Into the Water is a 2017 psychological thriller by British author Paula Hawkins. It is set in Beckford, an English town where Nel Abbott is found dead in a river pool known as the Drowning Pool, a place associated with earlier deaths of women. Nel's sister Jules returns to the town and becomes involved in the investigation while trying to protect Nel's teenage daughter, Lena.
