Pine Valley Golf Club

Pine Valley is one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the world and is strictly invitation-only for members and their guests. The club does not offer public tee times or green fee access. However, the public can observe play during the annual Crump Cup amateur tournament, typically held in late September, when the grounds are opened to visitors.

Pine Valley was conceived and designed primarily by George Arthur Crump, a Philadelphia hotelier, with significant contributions from British architect Harry Shapland Colt. Crump began the project in 1913 but died in 1918 before the course was fully completed. Colt and several other notable architects, including A.W. Tillinghast, helped finish the design after Crump's death.

Pine Valley plays to a par of 70 and measures approximately 7,005 yards from the championship tees. Despite its modest length by modern standards, the course is widely regarded as one of the most difficult in the world. Each hole presents a distinct challenge with penal hazards, deep bunkers, and demanding shot values.

Pine Valley has held the number one position on Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses" list numerous times since the ranking debuted in 1966. It has also frequently topped Golf Magazine's biennial "Top 100 Courses in the World." Golf architecture critics consistently place it among the top two or three courses ever built.
