Cypress Hills Badlands

description Cypress Hills Badlands Overview

Cypress Hills Badlands describes eroded terrain associated with the Cypress Hills region of western Canada, a plateau that straddles the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. Gullies and exposed slopes cut into softer sediments around the elevated upland, creating a badlands landscape within a region otherwise known for its grasslands and wooded higher ground. The Cypress Hills are also notable for rising well above the surrounding plains and for being the highest landform between the Rocky Mountains and Labrador.
