George Abecassis was a British racing driver and co-founder, with John Heath, of Hersham and Walton Motors (HWM), the British constructor and team that entered his cars in early Formula One. He made two World Championship Grand Prix starts, both at the Swiss Grand Prix, in 1951 and 1952, and retired from each in an HWM powered by an Alta engine. Outside single-seaters, he also raced Aston Martin sports cars, including at Le Mans, which places him in both early F1 and British endurance-racing history.
