description iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2012) Overview

This model is a historical artifact. While it was revolutionary when released, its hardware and operating system are severely outdated compared to modern standards. It is only recommended for collectors or those needing a specific, non-upgradable piece of tech history. For any functional use case today, a much newer, smaller model is vastly superior in performance and compatibility.

help iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2012) FAQ

Was there an iPad Pro 12.9-inch model released in 2012?

Apple did not release a 12.9-inch iPad Pro in 2012. The first 12.9-inch iPad Pro arrived in 2015, so this catalog entry appears to combine an incorrect year with the later screen size.

When did the first 12.9-inch iPad Pro come out?

Apple introduced the first 12.9-inch iPad Pro in 2015. It was the first iPad Pro generation and used the large display format that later became common in Apple's professional tablet line.

Can a 2012 iPad run current iPadOS apps?

A 2012-era iPad cannot run current iPadOS releases. The original iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad were from 2012, and their old hardware is limited to much older iOS software.

Is this item useful as a modern work tablet?

No reliable modern-work recommendation can be made for a supposed 2012 12.9-inch iPad Pro because that model did not exist. A buyer should verify the model number and year before treating the listing as a real device.
