iPhone 6S

The iPhone 6S features a 12-megapixel rear iSight camera and a 5-megapixel front FaceTime HD camera, a significant upgrade over the iPhone 6's 8MP rear camera. It also introduced 4K video recording and Live Photos for the first time. The front camera got a flash feature using the screen as a fill light.

The iPhone 6S, released in September 2015, introduced 3D Touch (pressure-sensitive display technology), Live Photos, 4K video recording, a stronger 7000-series aluminum chassis to address the 'bendgate' concerns of the iPhone 6, and the A9 processor with the M9 motion coprocessor. It also upgraded the rear camera from 8MP to 12MP and the front camera from 1.2MP to 5MP. Second-generation Touch ID was also significantly faster.

The iPhone 6S received updates through iOS 15, with Apple continuing to release security patches for it well after its 2015 launch. It did not receive iOS 16, which dropped support for the A9-powered devices. This seven-year update lifespan made the 6S one of Apple's longest-supported iPhone models.

Many apps still function on the iPhone 6S under iOS 15, but an increasing number of newer app versions require iOS 16 or later, which the 6S cannot run. With its 2GB of RAM and A9 chip, performance is noticeably slow for graphically demanding apps or multitasking. It remains usable for basic communication, web browsing, and media playback.
