description Mexican Sweat Overview
Mexican Sweat is a no-peek poker home game in which cards are initially dealt face down and exposed one at a time. Players must place wagers or follow the deal without seeing their complete hands, creating uncertainty until the final cards are revealed. A common format uses a high-low split pot, but the number of cards, betting procedure, and rules for declaring a low hand differ among household versions and should be agreed before play.
help Mexican Sweat FAQ
What does Mexican Sweat mean in poker?
Mexican Sweat is a no-peek home poker game. Cards begin face down and are exposed one at a time, so players wager without seeing their complete hands.
Can players see their whole hand at the start of Mexican Sweat?
No. The central rule is that the cards are initially dealt face down and revealed gradually. This creates uncertainty until the final cards are exposed.
How does betting work in Mexican Sweat?
Players must place wagers or follow the deal while their cards remain partly hidden. The exact betting limits and hand-ranking rules depend on the house format.
Why is Mexican Sweat more uncertain than ordinary poker?
Players make decisions before they know all of their cards. The one-at-a-time reveal makes incomplete information the main mechanic of the game.
