Pharaoh Tutankhamun

description Pharaoh Tutankhamun Overview

Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty who ruled for roughly a decade during the New Kingdom, usually dated to about 1332 to 1323 BCE. During his reign, the court restored the worship of multiple Egyptian deities after the Aten-centered reforms associated with Akhenaten, and the king's name changed from Tutankhaten to Tutankhamun. His historical importance today rests largely on tomb KV62, discovered in the Valley of the Kings by Howard Carter and an Egyptian team in November 1922 with its burial equipment largely preserved.
