description 108 Hecuba Overview

108 Hecuba is a numbered asteroid in the main asteroid belt. Robert Luther discovered it in 1869, and it was named after Hecuba, the queen of Troy and wife of King Priam in Greek mythology. The asteroid belongs to a region populated by many small bodies whose orbits lie mainly between those of Mars and Jupiter. Its surface composition is inferred from reflected-light observations rather than direct sampling.
