description 183 Istria Overview

183 Istria is a stony S-type asteroid in the central region of the main asteroid belt, with an estimated diameter of about 33 km. Austrian astronomer Johann Palisa discovered it on 8 February 1878 at the Austrian Naval Observatory in Pola, now Pula, Croatia. The name refers to the Istrian Peninsula on the northern Adriatic coast, and its solar orbit takes about 4.66 years.
