98 Ianthe is a large, dark C-type asteroid in the main belt, measuring about 105 km across. Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters discovered it on 18 April 1868 at Clinton, New York, and the name refers to figures called Ianthe in Greek mythology. Its orbit takes about 4.41 years, it rotates once in about 16.48 hours, and its low reflectivity is consistent with a carbonaceous surface.
