Alien: Resurrection is a 1997 science-fiction horror film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and written by Joss Whedon. Set two centuries after the events of Alien 3, it follows a genetically recreated Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, aboard a military research vessel where scientists are breeding and studying Xenomorphs. The film is the fourth theatrical entry in the original Alien film series and combines body horror, action, laboratory experimentation, and questions about identity.
