Allen-Bradley ControlLogix

ControlLogix controllers are programmed using Rockwell Automation's Studio 5000 Logix Designer software (formerly known as RSLogix 5000). This software environment provides ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram, and sequential function chart programming languages for developing control applications.

ControlLogix supports multiple industrial communication protocols including EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, and DeviceNet, with EtherNet/IP being the most commonly used in modern installations. The platform's modular backplane allows users to add communication modules for additional protocols as needed.

ControlLogix is a larger, rack-based modular system designed for complex, high-I/O-count applications, while CompactLogix is a smaller, more compact platform aimed at mid-range applications with fewer I/O requirements. Both use the same Studio 5000 programming software and Logix5000 controller architecture, but ControlLogix offers greater scalability and redundancy options.

ControlLogix is widely deployed in industries including manufacturing, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, automotive, and water and wastewater treatment. Its modular architecture makes it suitable for applications ranging from discrete manufacturing control to complex process automation and building management systems.
