Allen-Bradley CompactLogix

CompactLogix controllers are programmed using Rockwell Automation's Studio 5000 Logix Designer software, which was previously sold under the name RSLogix 5000. This is the same programming environment used for the larger Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platform, allowing users to develop and port code between the two systems.

CompactLogix is designed for small to mid-range applications with a more compact, panel-mounted form factor and fewer expansion slots than the rack-based ControlLogix. ControlLogix is built for large-scale industrial control with higher I/O capacity, redundancy capabilities, and support for more communication modules.

CompactLogix controllers natively support EtherNet/IP, Rockwell Automation's primary industrial networking protocol. Depending on the specific controller model, they can also communicate over DeviceNet, ControlNet, and serial connections using built-in or add-on modules.

CompactLogix is commonly deployed in packaging machinery, material handling systems, mid-sized process control, and discrete manufacturing applications where full ControlLogix capacity is not needed. It is widely used across food and beverage, pharmaceutical, automotive, and water treatment industries.
