Amazon EFS Multi-AZ

language

description Amazon EFS Multi-AZ Overview

Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) provides a scalable, managed network file system. The Multi-AZ deployment ensures that data is stored across multiple Availability Zones simultaneously. This provides high durability and availability for shared file systems used by applications like content management systems or home directories in a disaster recovery context.

help Amazon EFS Multi-AZ FAQ

What is the difference between EFS Regional and EFS One Zone?

Regional is the Multi-AZ storage class intended for workloads that need resilience to the loss of an Availability Zone. EFS One Zone stores data within a single Availability Zone and is priced lower, but it has a different availability and durability profile.

Is EFS Multi-AZ a replacement for AWS Backup?

No. Multi-AZ storage protects availability when infrastructure fails, but it does not by itself protect against accidental deletion, malicious changes, or an application corrupting files, so AWS Backup can still be necessary.
