description Asparagus Beetle Overview

The common asparagus beetle is Crioceris asparagi, a leaf beetle in the family Chrysomelidae and a pest associated with asparagus cultivation in Europe and North America. Adults are blue-black with pale spots bordered by red, while the larvae and adults feed on asparagus spears, stems, and foliage; the larvae can strip the plant's green growth. Females attach elongated black eggs by one end to asparagus spears or foliage.
