Axis Gear was one of the first successful Kickstarter projects for smart blinds. It is a retrofit device that attaches to the bead chain of existing roller shades. While it was groundbreaking at the time, the company has struggled with support and updates, and the product is now largely considered legacy. It is still available in some places, but it lacks the modern features, reliability, and ecosystem support of newer competitors like SwitchBot or Eve.
It is only recommended for those who already own the system and need a replacement unit.
