Barney Glaser

description Barney Glaser Overview

Barney G. Glaser was an American sociologist best known for developing grounded theory with Anselm Strauss. Their 1967 book The Discovery of Grounded Theory presented a systematic method for generating concepts and theories through the comparative analysis of empirical data, rather than beginning with a fixed hypothesis. Glaser later defended his own formulation of the method and disagreed with Strauss and Juliet Corbin about coding procedures and methodological prescription.
