Spherical is Bell's proprietary impact protection system developed in partnership with MIPS, using two independent EPS foam layers that can rotate relative to each other during an angled impact. Bell and Giro are both owned by Vista Outdoor and share some fit characteristics, but the XR Spherical tends to run slightly rounder in internal shape. Giro helmets typically suit more intermediate oval head shapes, so if you find Giros pinching at the temples, the Bell may feel more comfortable.

The XR Spherical includes a short snap-on visor that provides basic sun shading for mixed-terrain riding. It's removable if you prefer a cleaner road-cycling look, which makes the helmet adaptable for both disciplines.
