Bobby Roberts Super Circus was a traditional British travelling circus, run by the Roberts family, that toured with animals long after many other UK circuses had given them up. It became nationally known in 2011–2012 through the case of Anne, its elderly, arthritic elephant: covert footage showed a groom mistreating her, she was retired to Longleat Safari Park, and owner Bobby Roberts was convicted of animal welfare offences in 2012. The controversy contributed to public pressure that led England to ban wild animals in travelling circuses, a ban that took effect in 2020.
