Bodegas Roda I Reserva

Roda I is the bodega's selection built around Tempranillo lots showing darker-fruit character and greater depth. It is a separate wine from Roda Reserva, not simply a Roman numeral marking the winery's first vintage.

Tempranillo is the dominant grape, sometimes supported by Graciano depending on the vintage. The fruit comes from old Rioja vineyards selected for the dark, ripe profile associated with Roda I.

Bodegas Roda emphasizes precise vineyard selection, temperature-controlled vinification, and maturation in French oak. This produces a concentrated, polished style that differs from traditional Rioja aged for very long periods in American oak.

A young bottle can benefit from air because Tempranillo, tannin, and French-oak character may initially feel compact. Older vintages should be decanted more cautiously because sediment and bottle development can make prolonged aeration unnecessary.
