The Boeing 737-200 is an American narrow-body jet airliner that entered service in 1968. Developed as a stretched version of the original 737-100, it offered increased passenger capacity to meet the demands of growing airline routes. It was powered by Pratt & Whitney JT8D low-bypass turbofan engines and featured a distinctive aerodynamic improvement on its engine nacelles. The 737-200 became a commercial success for short-haul routes before eventually being replaced by newer variants.
