description Bokurano Overview
As fifteen children at a summer camp enjoy their carefree vacation together, they stumble upon a small cave near the beach. The group finds a mysterious room deep within its caverns, where they meet a strange man who calls himself Kokopelli. The man invites the children to play a game that involves taking turns controlling a robot to protect the Earth against aliens. Thinking it might be an interesting computer game, all but one of the children sign a contract agreeing to play.
Later that day, the giant robot appears in person and the children are teleported into its cockpit, where they find Kokopelli, who pilots a fight against a similar robotic creature that has appeared nearby.
help Bokurano FAQ
Why must the children keep fighting other giant robots?
Zearth's battles decide which parallel Earth survives. A loss, refusal, or failure to defeat the opposing robot within the rules can mean the destruction of the pilots' entire world.
Who is Dung Beetle in Bokurano?
Dung Beetle, often called Koyemshi, is the small floating creature that manages the pilots and explains portions of the battle system. His mocking behavior and selective disclosures make him an especially hostile guide.
How different is the Bokurano anime from Mohiro Kitoh's manga?
The 2007 Gonzo anime keeps the premise of children contracted to pilot Zearth but changes character arcs, battle outcomes, and major late-story developments. Director Hiroyuki Morita publicly acknowledged taking the adaptation in a direction that differed from Kitoh's manga.
