description Inuyashiki: Last Hero Overview
Ichirou Inuyashiki is a 58-year-old family man who is going through a difficult time in his life. Though his frequent back problems are painful, nothing hurts quite as much as the indifference and distaste that his wife and children have for him. Despite this, Ichirou still manages to find solace in Hanako, an abandoned Shiba Inu that he adopts into his home. However, his life takes a turn for the worse when a follow-up physical examination reveals that Ichirou has stomach cancer and only three months to live; though he tries to be strong, his family's disinterest causes an emotional breakdown.
help Inuyashiki: Last Hero FAQ
Why do Ichirou Inuyashiki and Hiro Shishigami use the same mechanical powers so differently?
Both characters are rebuilt as powerful machines after the same mysterious accident, but Ichirou saves people while Hiro commits increasingly brutal murders. Their opposing choices form the central conflict of the series and explore whether power reveals or changes a person's humanity.
Does Inuyashiki: Last Hero tell a complete story in one season?
Yes, MAPPA's 2017 anime runs for 11 episodes and reaches a definite conclusion. It adapts Hiroya Oku's completed 10-volume manga rather than ending with an unresolved setup for another season.
How violent is Inuyashiki: Last Hero?
The series contains graphic shootings, mass murder, domestic terror, and disturbing violence involving ordinary families. Hiro Shishigami's attacks make it substantially darker than a conventional superhero anime.
Is the Inuyashiki live-action film the same story as the anime?
The 2018 Japanese film adapts the same basic conflict between Ichirou and Hiro but compresses the manga into a feature-length narrative. It was directed by Shinsuke Sato and stars Noritake Kinashi as Inuyashiki and Takeru Satoh as Shishigami.
