The Bugeac Steppe, also called the Budjak or Budzhak Steppe, is a grassland region in southern Moldova and southwestern Ukraine. It extends across the southern part of the Moldavian Plain between the Dniester and Prut rivers and reaches toward the Black Sea. The region is part of the wider Pontic steppe zone and is characterized by open, relatively dry landscapes that have been extensively modified for agriculture.
