Buthus atlantis

description Buthus atlantis Overview

Buthus atlantis is a scorpion species in the family Buthidae, described by Reginald Innes Pocock in 1889. It is endemic to Morocco and is known from sandy coastal and dune habitats between Essaouira and Agadir on the Atlantic side of the country. Modern taxonomic treatments distinguish it from Buthus parroti, which occupies more inland or forested habitats in western Morocco; the two taxa therefore have different documented habitat ranges.
