Canary Rockfish

description Canary Rockfish Overview

The canary rockfish, Sebastes pinniger, is a brightly colored marine fish of the northeast Pacific Ocean. Adults are commonly orange to yellow and live in deep water around rocky structure, while the species has also supported commercial and recreational fisheries. U.S. fishery managers classified canary rockfish as overfished in the early 2000s after heavy fishing pressure, particularly from trawl fisheries, reduced its abundance.
