Cancrinite is a feldspathoid mineral composed chiefly of sodium, calcium, aluminum, silicon, carbon, oxygen, and water. It forms mainly in nepheline syenites and related alkaline igneous rocks, where it can occur alongside nepheline and other feldspathoids. Its colors range from pale yellow and white to orange, pink, and gray. Transparent or attractive specimens may be cut as collector gemstones, but the mineral is uncommon in jewelry.
