description Canes Venatici Overview

Canes Venatici is a small northern constellation introduced by the Polish astronomer Johannes Hevelius in the late seventeenth century and formalized in his star atlas. It represents the hunting dogs Asterion and Chara, held by Boötes, and includes Alpha Canum Venaticorum, a binary star commonly called Cor Caroli.
