Chapelwaite

"Chapelwaite" is based on Stephen King's short story "Jerusalem's Lot," which was originally published in his 1978 collection "Night Shift." The series expands significantly on the lore of the original story, turning it into a full gothic horror television narrative. It delves deep into the dark history of the Boone family and their ancestral home in Maine.

Although the story is famously set in Stephen King's fictional Maine town of Preacher's Corners, the series was actually filmed in Nova Scotia, Canada. The production utilized the province's rich, gothic coastal landscapes to double for 1850s New England. Filming took place in various historic locations, including the community of Lunenburg.

The show stars Adrien Brody in the lead role of Captain Charles Boone, alongside Emily Hampshire, who plays the mysterious governess Rebecca Morgan. Brody's performance marks one of his rare starring roles in a television horror series. The cast also features Jennifer Ens and Siena Agudong as Charles's children.

Despite the first season ending on a cliffhanger and a second season being initially planned, Epix officially canceled "Chapelwaite" in 2022. This cancellation left many plot threads regarding the Boone family and the Lovecraftian horrors unresolved. The first season remains a complete viewing experience, though it hints at further dangers to come.
