description ChargePoint Overview

ChargePoint boasts the largest network of charging stations in North America, encompassing both Level 2 and DC fast charging options. Its widespread presence makes it accessible in numerous locations, including workplaces, retail centers, and public parking areas. While DC fast charging speeds are generally lower than Tesla Superchargers or Electrify America, the sheer size and accessibility of the network provide significant convenience. ChargePoints focus on commercial and fleet charging is a key differentiator.

help ChargePoint FAQ

Do I need a ChargePoint account to start a charging session?

Many ChargePoint stations can be activated through the ChargePoint app or an RFID card linked to an account. Some locations also support contactless payment or roaming partners, but the available method is controlled by the station and its owner.

Can a Tesla charge at ChargePoint stations?

Yes, provided the car has the connector or adapter required by that station. ChargePoint locations may offer J1772, CCS, NACS, or other connectors, so the app's plug filter should be checked before driving there.

Why is a ChargePoint station visible in the app but unavailable?

A station may be occupied, reserved, restricted to employees or residents, offline, or outside its host property's opening hours. The app can show live port status, but access rules in the station details remain important.
