Château Batailley

Château Batailley is classified as a Cinquième Cru, or Fifth Growth, estate according to the official 1855 Bordeaux Wine Official Classification. Located in the Pauillac appellation of France, the vineyard primarily produces Cabernet Sauvignon-based red blends. It is widely considered an accessible entry point into the classified growths of the region.

Château Batailley is situated in the Pauillac commune on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux wine region in France. The area is famous for its deep gravel soils, which are exceptionally well-suited for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Pauillac is also home to three of Bordeaux's five First Growth estates, including Château Lafite Rothschild.

The estate is owned by the Cazes family, specifically managed by Jean-Michel Cazes, who also oversees the nearby Lynch-Bages estate. The family has invested heavily in modernizing the vineyard's viticulture and winemaking facilities over the years. Under their guidance, the wine has maintained a reputation for classic Bordeaux structure and reliability.

Château Batailley produces classic, traditional Bordeaux reds known for their dark fruit flavors like blackcurrant, complemented by notes of cedar, earth, and spice. The wines are highly structured with significant tannins, meaning they usually require several years of cellaring to reach their peak. The blend is consistently dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, giving it a distinctly Pauillac character.
