Chester Ray Longwell (1887–1975) was an American structural geologist who spent much of his academic career as a professor at Yale University. He is recognized for his extensive geological mapping and research concerning the structural complexities of the Basin and Range province in the western United States. Additionally, Longwell co-authored several foundational textbooks on physical geology that were widely adopted in university curricula throughout the mid-20th century.

His work serves as a historical baseline for modern structural geology and tectonic studies.
