Chorthippus armoricanus

The species was described in 1945 by Norwegian entomologist Arne Semb Torvik Dons. Its scientific name places it in the grasshopper genus Chorthippus.

It is associated with meadows and open grassland in Western Europe. The species is generally sought in grassy habitats rather than dense woodland or built-up areas.

Identification normally requires close examination of body markings, wings, sound, and other features used in grasshopper keys. A photograph alone may not be enough because related Chorthippus species can look similar.

It is a grasshopper in the family Acrididae. Like other grasshoppers, it has enlarged hind legs for jumping and produces species-specific signals by rubbing parts of the body together.
