Clara Schumann (1819–1896) was a German pianist and composer whose public concert career spanned over six decades, making her among the most prominent performing musicians of the Romantic era. A child prodigy trained by her father Friedrich Wieck, she married composer Robert Schumann in 1840 and premiered many of his works. Her own compositions include a piano concerto, lieder, chamber works, and solo piano pieces. She taught at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt from 1878.
