The Commander, Moduza procris, is a medium-sized brush-footed butterfly in the family Nymphalidae and subfamily Limenitidinae. It occurs across parts of South Asia and Southeast Asia, including India, Myanmar, Thailand, and southern China, in forest and woodland habitats. The upper wings are reddish brown with broad pale markings and dark margins. Adult males often perch and chase intruding butterflies, while the caterpillar is known for arranging pieces of leaf and droppings into a hanging chain near its resting place.
