Cerithium vulgatum, the common cerith or European cerith, is a marine gastropod in the family Cerithiidae. It occurs mainly in the Mediterranean and nearby eastern Atlantic, on rocky, sandy, or muddy bottoms from the shore to shallow subtidal depths; published records include 0.5 to 35 metres, and shells may reach about 6.6 centimetres. It has a tall, pointed, many-whorled shell and feeds as a surface deposit feeder, browsing plant material and detritus [SeaLifeBase](https://www.sealifebase.ca/Ecology/SpeciesEcologySummary.php?GenusName=Cerithium&SpeciesName=vulgatum&StockCode=85969).
