Compressor Route

description Compressor Route Overview

The Compressor Route remains one of Patagonia’s most challenging and controversial climbs on Cerro Torre. Cesare Maestri established this alpine route in 1970 by employing a compressor for placement, a technique rarely used today. It demands exceptional technical skill, physical fitness, and experience with fixed lines and ice protection. The route is primarily intended for advanced climbers familiar with extreme conditions and demanding multi-pitch ascents seeking a historic and exceptionally difficult Patagonia challenge.
