The corn earworm moth, Helicoverpa zea, is a noctuid moth whose larvae feed on reproductive and fruiting parts of many crops. In maize, the caterpillars commonly feed on silks and developing ears; the same species is also called the cotton bollworm or tomato fruitworm when it attacks cotton or tomatoes. It is an agricultural pest in the Americas and is managed through crop monitoring and pest-control measures.
