description Crocosmia Overview
Crocosmia is a genus of corm-forming perennial plants in the iris family, Iridaceae, native to southern Africa. The plants produce narrow, arching leaves and branched stems bearing brightly coloured, usually orange, red, or yellow flowers. Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora is a widely grown garden hybrid raised in France by Victor Lemoine around 1882. Crocosmias are cultivated for summer flowers and are also visited by hummingbirds.
