The Original Worm is commonly fished on a Texas rig, where the hook point can be buried to move through weeds and cover. Anglers also use it on Carolina rigs when they want the long ribbon tail to move behind a weighted leader.

The thin curled tail produces a wide swimming action as the lure falls or moves through the water. That action gives bass a visible and vibrational target even when the angler retrieves the worm slowly.

The 7.5-inch Original Worm is the best-known general-purpose version and suits Texas-rig fishing around common bass cover. Larger versions create a bigger profile, while smaller worms can be easier to fish when bass are less aggressive.

The Culprit's ribbon tail creates pronounced movement during a retrieve or fall. A straight-tail worm such as a Zoom Trick Worm relies more on subtle shaking, gliding, or dead-sticking presentations.
