description Delta M Overview
The Delta M was an American expendable launch system introduced in 1968 as part of the extensive Thor-Delta rocket family. Developed by McDonnell Douglas, this variant upgraded the earlier Delta E by incorporating three Castor II solid-fuel strap-on boosters to increase thrust during liftoff. The Delta M was primarily utilized by NASA and the US military to place unmanned satellites into low Earth orbit and geostationary transfer orbits. It remained in active service until it was retired in 1971.
