description Dirty Weekend Overview

Dirty Weekend is a 1991 revenge novel by the British writer Helen Zahavi. Set in Brighton, it follows Bella, a woman who responds to repeated threats and violence by turning against the men who have abused or pursued her. The novel is associated with crime fiction and a picaresque female-rogue structure, and it attracted controversy after publication. It was also adapted into a film and was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel award.
